Livingston Regional Hospital Announces Leadership Transition
Longtime CEO Tim McGill to retire May 1; current CFO Lance Mason named CEO, effective March 31
LIVINGSTON, TN (January 6, 2025) – Livingston Regional Hospital (LRH) CEO Tim McGill – who has led the hospital for a total of 25 years – will retire on May 1. Current CFO Lance Mason, hired by McGill in 2016, will become the new CEO, effective March 31. The month overlap will further ensure a smooth transition.
“First, congratulations and thank you to Tim, who has spent most of his professional career leading Livingston Regional’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of the individuals in the five-county area it serves,” said Russell Pigg, President of the Community Hospital division at ScionHealth, LRH’s parent company. “Second, congratulations and wishes for much success to Lance, who has gained invaluable experience at Livingston for the past eight-plus years and is now ready to lead the hospital.”
During his tenure at Livingston – first as Assistant Administrator/Director of Finance and more recently as CFO – Mason has assisted with the hospital’s strategic planning and budgeting, managed departmental staffing and productivity targets, and overseen operations of Livingston’s five physician clinics. He has done so under the watchful eye of McGill, who says he recognized the potential of Mason early on.
“When we first brought Lance on board, I wanted him to have the right kind of experience so he could grow professionally and potentially succeed me as CEO,” said McGill.
For his part, Mason says he is extremely thankful to have been able to work under and learn from McGill since joining the hospital in 2016.
“I cannot say enough about the solid leadership he has provided this hospital and the mentor he has been for me,” said Mason. “I am honored to now have the opportunity to lead Livingston Regional Hospital and its great group of team members and providers. This hospital plays a key role in the communities we serve, and it is important that we continue to provide high-quality care with exceptional customer service.
“Livingston Regional Hospital holds a special place in my heart,” he added. “I was born in this hospital, and I am excited to build upon the great work being done here.”
On May 1, McGill will close out a 45-year career in hospital administration, 25 of which were at Livingston, from 1993 to 2008 and from 2015 to the present. In that time, he has helped the hospital physically expand, add service lines, attain accreditations, recruit physicians, and remain an essential partner with its surrounding communities.
“My time at Livingston Regional has been great for me professionally and great for my family to be a part of this community,” said McGill. “It has been an honor to help serve the healthcare needs of this region.”
